Caring for Clare V. ItemsUpdated 3 months ago

  • In general:
    • To reduce waste, all parts of the hide are used in crafting our bags and so there may be slight color and grain variations, which are characteristic of the natural leather and individual to each item. These leathers will only improve with age and use, and will generally soften and darken over time.
    • Our lightly finished leathers do not need to be pre-treated, but may be conditioned over time with a trusted leather conditioner to renew the luster and supple nature of the leather.  We do not recommend this for our cuoio leather, as we prefer to allow the natural aging process of this special leather shine through!  Do not use conditioners on suede, nubuck, or non-leather items.
    • We do recommend pre-treating suede, nubuck, cotton and straw bags with a protectant like Jason Markk Repel Spray or another trusted suede & nubuck protectant.  Always spot test an inconspicuous area first and follow the manufacturer's application instructions.
    • We don’t recommend machine washing or submerging any Clare V. bag or strap.
    • Avoid exposing your bag to water, moisture, and direct sunlight, as these can cause changes in the leather and color of your item.
    • Our best recommendation for cleaning your Clare V. leather good is to take it to a trusted shoemaker or cleaner specializing in leather.
  • Please refer to the care guide on your product's page for details on caring for your specific Clare V. item.
